Have you ever wanted to convert files without the need to download software? Do you have a lower version of a Microsoft application that makes it difficult to open files sent to you by your colleagues (can anyone say "docx")?

If you don't want to spend the money for an upgrade (or can't), a new online company can make your life a little bit easier -- for FREE.

Zamzar is dedicated to helping you transform your songs, videos, images and documents into different formats. They have split their file formats into these categories:

    • Document formats
    • Image formats
    • Music formats
    • Video formats
    • Compressed formats
    • CAD formats

"Anonymous" access gets your files sent to you by e-mail without having to register on the site. You can also sign up for additional online management options through Free, Basic, Pro, and Business subscriptions.

See if it doesn't convert the way you do business. www.zamzar.com

Send us any "Helpful Resource" you'd like to share in future issues.

Strategic Planning Update

The APRA-SW Board of Directors continues to work through its strategic planning initiatives for this year, and is making progress in several areas.

Some of the projects currently in the works:

  • A new membership brochure is being designed to help recruit new members.

  • A new Mentorship Program is well underway

  • A one-and-one-half-day Conference will be held May 7-8, 2009 at the Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

  • A marketing/sponsorship plan for conferences and other services is in process.

  • A new chapter Website was launched in January. It has a fully-functional member directory and other online processing features.

  • Broadcast e-mails have been sent more frequently to increase communication to members.

  • This is the fourth quarterly electronic chapter newsletter, with plans to continue throughout the coming year.

  • The chapter renewed most Board members and appointed new officers to fill vacated positions.

We will continue to update you throughout the year on our progress towards these new goals. Please contact any of the APRA-SW Board members if you have any feedback or questions on our strategic plan.
